ASTRA's Conferences. Restoration Workshop - 7th Edition
Between 22-26 May 2023, ASTRA Museum, an institution whose actions are made possible by funding from Sibiu County Council, is hosting the event ASTRA's Conferences. Restoration Workshop - 7th Edition. It is organized through the ASTRA Centre for Heritage and includes the following sections: wood icons and glass icons, wood and polychrome wood, ceramics and metal, leather and leather-fur, textiles, graphics and cultural goods on paper.
The restoration workshop will take place in the laboratories of the ASTRA Centre for Heritage. The event will bring together over 40 participants, specialists, teachers and students, guests from the country (Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, Satu Mare, Dolj, Prahova, Hunedoara, Brăila, Maramureș, Vâlcea, Sibiu), guests from England and the Republic of Moldova.
The event aims to restore the health of some pieces from ASTRA Museum collections, as well as the exchange of experience between specialists, experts in the field of conservation and restoration of heritage from ASTRA Museum, Brukenthal National Museum, "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, Satu Mare County Museum, Oltenia's Museum from Craiova, National Museum of Romanian Literature Bucharest, National Peleș Museum, "Casa Mureșenilor" Museum Brașov, County Museum of History Brașov, Culture Centre "The Brâncoveanu Palaces at the Gates of Bucharest", Sâmbăta de Sus Monastery.
During the event, analyses will be carried out with the portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, scientific support provided by expert research chemist Gheorghina Olariu.
The official opening will take place on Monday 22 May 2023, 9.00 am, at the ASTRA Centre for Heritage, Dumbrava Forest, no. 16-20, Gate 3, Open Air Museum from Dumbrava Sibiu. On 26 May 2023, the final debates and the opening of the exhibition with the pieces restored during the Workshop will take place in the building of the ASTRA Centre for Heritage.
