I'm chirping in the museum in winter as well

November 30, 2023 @ 09:00 - February 29, 2024 @ 16:30

From November 30 to February 29, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., we are offering families with children, and adults an activity to feed the wild birds in the museum. At the main entrance, bags with seed and a leaflet containing interesting and diverse information about birds are waiting for you, plus a map showing the location of the feeders. In a playful way, children learn new information about birds and why it is important to feed them in winter. The information, together with the interactive tasks in the leaflet will sharpen/encourage their attention and playfulness, all of which will form the basis of a unique and educational visit to the ASTRA Museum.

The placement of the box feeders is as follows:

  • on the dike, towards the country fair
  • near the willow, lake area, the Watermill from Munteni
  • next to the lake, 200 metres from the stage on the right-hand side
  • Etno Tehno Parc area, opposite the School from Ticera

Why do we feed birds in winter?
From December onwards, you can see different species of birds wintering here: blue and red-crowned woodpecker, jay, blackbird, skua, sandpiper, green-winged godwit, great crested owl and little spotted woodpecker. Due to low temperatures and snow, birds find few sources of food in the cold season.

In addition to the seeds we provide, we encourage you to bring fruit (apples) and even bacon (without spices).

The activities are based on an entrance ticket or season ticket.
