Olympiad "Traditional Artistic Crafts"

From 20 to 23 July 2023, ASTRA Museum will host the 26th edition of the national phase of the Olympiad "Traditional Artistic Crafts". The event is organized by ASTRA Museum in partnership with the School Inspectorate of Sibiu County. This year's edition brings together 200 participants (students, teachers, cultural promoters and artists) from 28 counties of the country, including Sibiu and Bucharest, but also from abroad - Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova (three groups from the districts of Răuțel, Dondușeni, Călărași) and Mexico.
Students entered in the competition compete in 37 craft techniques, such as: vertical and horizontal loom weaving, embroidery, sewing, folk costume making, ornament making, folk costume doll making, tassel making, tassel on baldric, weaving, plant fibre weaving, crochet, knitting, artistic woodwork, wood carving, woodcutting, pyrography, linocutting, metalworking, stone engraving, painted furniture, making traditional toys, egg-baking, painting icons on glass and wood, painting naïve, modelling ceramics, pottery, pottery decoration, making masks, decorative art.
