Traditions and local gastronomy from the Târnavelor Valley, from the Hârtibaciului Valley and from the Country of Secașe

On October 22, 2023, starting at 11.00 am, at the Country Fair in the Open Air Museum, the Rural Communities Fair will take place, a program that promotes the tradition preserved in the rural communities of Sibiu County. This Sunday, October 22, 2023 the following communities will present their cultural heritage: the Hoghilag village on the Târnavelor Valley, the Chirpăr village on the Hârtibaciului Valley and also representatives from the Country of Secașe.
"Now that autumn is making its presence, the housewives are the ones who start preparing dishes specific to the localities represented, delicacies in which autumn vegetables will be found in abundance. The craftspeople present at this event will delight us with their skills, easily making beautiful things that adorn homes and folk costumes. Will also attend producers from three ethnographic areas of Sibiu county, from which we can taste and buy products having the taste of childhood in the countryside", said Mihaela Gherghel, ASTRA Museum curator.
Starting at 12 o'clock, at midday, representatives of the communities will present a program of traditional songs and dances, because the celebrations are always accompanied this way:
- representatives of Hoghilag village, members of the vocal group "Mugurași de pe Târnavă", a group founded in Hoghilag 8 years ago, having Mrs. Luminița Maria Dejan as coordinating teacher. They will perform a recital including songs from the Târnava Mare area and other ethno-folkloric areas.
- The beauty of folk tradition will be performed by the Purtata Secașelor Folk Ensemble from the County of Secașe. Alongside the dancers, the singer Robert Cetean will delight us with his songs. The ensemble performs under the artistic guidance of the instructors Roxana and Stefan Radu.
-The group from Chirpăr, with Mr. Chirion Stănuleț as instructor, will present traditional dances from the Hârtibaci Valley.
