Hungarikum Days 14th edition
ASTRA Museum, an institution whose actions are made possible by the funding of Sibiu County Council, is the host and partner of the event. Hungarikum Days14th edition, which will take place between 30 June and 2 July in the Open Air Museum in Dumbrava Sibiului. There will be activities such as a fair of craftspeople and producers, performances and workshops of Hungarian folk dances and music, events for children and concerts. All of these are aimed at understanding and preserving Hungarian culture, traditions and intangible heritage. The official opening of the fair will take place on Friday 30 June and traders will bring traditional products such as honey, lavender and various herbs, Szekler cake, langoș (fried dough), artisan cheeses, traditional clothes and accessories, cosmetics and natural decorative items. Visitors can take part in craft demonstrations and taste traditional Hungarian delicacies, home-made jam, beer and wine. The fair is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00.
In the same setting, interactive workshops will be staged in weaving, ribbon embroidery, wood carving and bead embroidery.On Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 July, throughout the day, the Losonczy István Association from Timișoara and the Kalibáskő Association from Miercurea Ciuc will organize traditional activities for children. They will be able to enter specific Hungarian yurts and sign up for competitions and demonstrations of whip and weapon wielding and archery.
The main attraction of the event will be theCooking Competition on Saturday 1st July, where teams will compete in preparing different types of goulash and other Hungarian dishes cooked in a pot. More than 25 teams from Sibiu, Sighișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Berghia de Mureș, Nicolești Ciuc, Borsec, but also from Hungary, Debrecen, Kecskemét, Pécs, as well as Topolya, Serbia will compete - all with the task of preparing traditional dishes in the cauldron. The dishes will be judged by an eight-member professional jury and guests of the festival.

On Sunday, July 2, the jury members and guest chefs will present the world of Hungarian gastronomy with special dishes that will also be offered for tasting to visitors: Hungarian-style gulyás, Karcag stew of mutton, venison stew, Sibiu bogrács, Mohács bean stew, Transylvanian mutton stew, Szekler gulyás, claw stew, carp fish soup, chicken paprika, mushroom soup. Visitors will also be able to taste fresh desserts, cooked on the spot, such as: the dessert speciality from Micfalău - Covasna, Szekler langoș or kürtőskalács with paprika.
During the two days of cooking at the festival, on Saturday & Sunday, the Dream Flow band, the Sibiu pipe band (instructor and group leader: Júlia Bucz), the Daniel BRASS DANCE brass band, Călin Han, the BEKECS ensemble, the TOKOS band, the TATROS band, the FINOM band from Sfântu Gheorghe and the ESZTERLÁNC band from Hungary will give musical performances.
