National Day of the Traditional Costume in Romania, 6th edition

On May 14, 2023, ASTRA Museum, an institution whose actions are made possible by the funding of Sibiu County Council, is organizing the 6th edition of the National Day of Traditional Costume in Romania.
On this occasion, an interactive workshop will take place in the open-air museum in Dumbrava Sibiului to make ticking tassels and beads, accompanied by a question and answer session (Q&A) suggestively called "From crows to blue jeans". More specifically, between 11 am and 3 pm, the museographers Elena Găvan and Florin Streza, together with Doina Halcea, curator, will describe to visitors how the cloth was made in the past for the hammers and what kind of instruments were used for this purpose. The chosen location is the Textile Industries Complex in Gura Râului, jud. Sibiu (Piva de la Gura Râului, a monument on display in the Open Air Museum).
On Sunday, May 14, 2023, admission to the ASTRA Museum will be free of charge for visitors dressed in full folk costume (women: ie, poale, choulet and headdress/leaf, girdle, laibar or breastplate; men: shirt, mallets or yarmulkes, girdle, laibar or breastplate, cloche/cap).
